The lights of the city never go dark. Even in the middle of the night, the watch keeps circuit with their lanterns, glowing mushrooms throw shadows into dark alleyways, and the laboratories and libraries of wizards strobe with neon colours.

But that is the city. It might be a dangerous, corrupt, life-crushing dystopia, but at least gathering together provides some protection against the dark forces that claim the lands beyond. After all, the evils who run the city have a vested interest in preserving their subjects.

Beyond the city walls, the world is still wild. Starlight and moonlight provide the only illumination for those journeying abroad, while beasts prey on the unwary in the darkness. It is a world rich in gold and lost secrets, where the brave, foolhardy or lucky either strike their fortunes or end their travels in unmarked graves.

You are those people, sometimes called ‘adventurers’, who scour the world for secrets or dangers. Are you tasked with ridding the world of threats and freeing the people from their self-proclaimed tyrants? Or are you seekers of the lost, delving deeply into forgotten temples and tombs to raid them for their treasure? Either way, welcome to the world of Dragons in the Dungeon.

A World of Danger

Dragons in the Dungeon is an unofficial supplement for Blades in the Dark, translating the classes and monsters from Dungeons & Dragons into the Blades system. Inside you'll find:

  • Suggestions for creating a fantasy world of your own based on seven archetypal campaign concepts.
  • Thirteen new playbooks for Blades in the Dark, based on the core D&D classes.
  • Two new crew playbooks for Blades in the Dark (Adventurers and Monster Hunters), for crews that wish to adventure beyond the safety of their city walls.
  • Rules for spellcasting and spellcrafting - making magic more commonplace in your Blades in the Dark games.
  • Rules for running Expeditions - linked Scores that journey abroad, including a new downtime option for long rests around the campfire.
  • Rules for converting monsters from Dungeons & Dragons into Blades in the Dark, including classic foes such as Aberrations, Oozes, Dragons, Angels, Fiends and the Undead.
  • A list of fifty tags that you can use to create your own monsters to inhabit the wilds of your Dragons in the Dungeon world.

Dragons in the Dungeon is designed to let players explore the cityscapes of a fantasy world, as well as the wilds around them. If you wish to run your game within an existing setting of either canon, this supplement allows you to pick and choose your crossover points. However, you might instead merge the two worlds, creating a dark world in a high-fantasy setting.

This supplement is a work in progress and subject to change. The art is certainly placeholder for now. I welcome all feedback you might have!
